Week of the Young Child

April 18 - April 22, 2023

In honor of our amazing, young learners, EDS is excited to announce our five fun-filled days for the Week of the Young Child.

Annual 5K Trail Race & Fun Run

Each spring, Exeter Day School hosts its annual 5K trail race and kids fun run. There's something for everyone--a beautiful 5K trail race/walk through the trails of Phillips Exeter Academy, a kids fun run for ages 12 and under, t-shirts, kids activities, refreshments for purchase, and prizes and raffles.

All races start and finish at the school.

Halloween Trunk or Treat

Our annual Halloween party offers Trick or Treating for EDS students at the school the weekend before Halloween. The super heros, farm animals, and other cuties parade to themed car “trunks” to receive a special treat.

Trunk or Treat is held annually on the Saturday before Halloween.

Thanksgiving Can Drive

We all have so much to be thanful for, so every November, Exeter Day School asks families to help local families in need. Food and non-food items, such as soap, paper products, household supplies, and personal care items, are donated to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Exeter.

Thank you to all EDS families for your generosity.

Annual Free Family Movie Night

In December, EDS families are invited to bring a stuffy and blanket to snuggle, enjoy some popcorn, and watch a movie in our downstairs playroom. Sometimes, a special, jolly visitor is even waiting with a wave and candy cane!

EDS Kids' Carnival

Each child gets to invite one special adult to our annual carnival, hosted by our amazing Parents Club members.  This fun, festive event is held indoors in our playroom.

Searching for Easter Eggs
Spring Egg Hunt

The EDS Parents Club hosts a family-friendly egg hunt on the playground one Saturday in April for our students and their siblings!

We also enjoy a special visit from the Easter Bunny for pictures!

Natural Playground

Along with our traditional playground, the Exeter Day School also has a Natural Playground in the back of the school. This playground includes a large tree perfect for climbing (appropriately named "Climb-O-Rama" by the students.) There are also 12 stumps of assorted heights set into the ground for jumping from stump to stump or for sitting on during storytime, and assorted sizes of "tree cookies" for building and stacking. There is also a large sandbox enclosed by tree stumps. During nice weather, the teachers may take the children outside to this area to do their arts and crafts or have a snack.
