SPECIALS

EDS offers specialty classes as enrichment. Students enrolled in our traditional programs will participate in specials.  These specials will be offered through out the school year based on age and teacher availability.

Science

Young children have a natural curiosity about themselves and the world around them. In science class, they will discover things through exploration, observation, and investigation. They will see the value in the data they collect. This class involves hands-on learning through inquiry and processing, promotes curiosity through observation and investigations, and develops positive attitudes for science.

World Cultures

Rhythm of the World: A language-based program incorporating music, instruments, games and rituals from cultures throughout the world. This program teaches awareness of and empathy for different cultures.

Library

Allowing children to explore the world around them through stories at school and home.  Children will visit our library to see all that there is too offer through books.

Storytime
Performing Arts

Musical Theater: The children are involved in the complete process of putting on a play or musical. This includes the organization of ideas, development of a story line, creation and development of characters, script development, choreography, and props. Family and friends are invited to a performance at the conclusion of the class.

Cooking

Children learn about measuring, pouring, chopping, mixing, melting, and safety while cooking. They create a cookbook complete with appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. The children each take home a cookbook at the end of the cooking class so they can continue making all the recipes they learned in class.

Yoga

Yoga helps children achieve a more peaceful existence in both mind and body. With practice, children have the opportunity to find peace within themselves and be able to stay in that peaceful place. They will have skills to be less reactive and more content, regardless of what takes place around them. Children who regularly practice yoga are better able to manage their emotions, manage stress, and calm themselves. Centered, calm children learn more easily, have better social skills, and, in general, are much happier children.

Gymnastics

Gymnastics are perfect for young children because they help develop strength, coordination, flexibility, balance, cognitive development, and social and emotional learning during children's most important times—while they are growing!
